A Contented world of AI
On a relentless mission to make sure Kiwi SMEs have access to the life-changing power of AI.
So much has happened here at Contented (and the world of AI). Read on for some quick updates from us - Hannah and Lucy.
The Short of It
We made the trip to Amsterdam for the World Summit AI. The biggest AI brains came together for two days and we were absolutely blown away. More on that below.
We hopped straight off the plane into a week of events. Lucy presented on a panel for the Exec Women in Tech meetup, Hannah presented at the KiwiSaas meetup and then at the Canterbury Employers Chamber of Commerce event the following day. Thank goodness for a long weekend!
So much has been happening with ChatGPT and other tools (including one of our favourites now available in NZ - Claude).
The Long of It
The World Summit AI, Amsterdam
2 days of incredible talks, workshops and networking

Held at the Taets Event Park in Amsterdam, the World Summit AI brought together some of the most influential researchers, thought-leaders, scientists and entrepreneurs. The focus was on how we use AI for Good.
Some of our favourite speakers:
💫 We are currently using one of our Contented tools to turn recordings of the talks, our voice memos and notes into resources for the Contented community - stay tuned! We will make these readily available as part of our mission to not only build meaningful AI tools but also educate.
Women in AI - Netherlands Chapter
The night before the summit we went along to the Women in AI Netherlands summit which showcased the nominees for each of the five categories for their annual awards. We met so many incredible women who we will continue to connect with (and who knows we might even set up a NZ chapter!) - including the AI lead for the Netherlands police force, a range of startup founders, Google Deep mind researchers and data scientists.
Integrating AI into your business- Chamber event
Hannah presented to a room full of Canterbury businesses- from sole traders through to larger organisations on how to start integrating AI- in a practical sense. She was joined by Elsamari Botha from University and Canterbury and Steve Alexander from Purple Shirt. Bringing AI to the grassroots of NZ business is what we are all about at Contented.
Customer Testimonial
Canterbury Employers Chamber of Commerce
As well as being a Supporting Partner of the Chamber, we are also building bespoke tools for them to enable them to better support their members.
The first tool rolled out has a focus on marketing and advocacy - with a key component taking voice recordings and turning them into rich content including press releases and media talking points.
Their second tool is underway which is focused on creating more tailored training content and resources.

AI Tool Updates
Contented tools
🦜 Voice-to-text power up
We are increasingly identifying the need (and getting a lot of requests) for our customers to have voice features in their tools. But what does that actually mean?
It’s simple. The tool has an upload feature (for a voice recording or a video), which is then transcribed and content is generated from that transcript.
This works well when you have particular outputs you need (eg LinkedIn posts, agendas or summaries) that need your template or style. This works for short voice memos or long meetings with multiple people.
We are rolling out voice features in all of our tools- its a game-changer!
Directory of Contented AI tools
🖇️ We are creating a catalogue to organise and share our growing library of AI tools that we have made for clients. We will share when we have this available.
Other AI tools
Although we have our own tools we still love using Chat GPT for those ad hoc tasks or for idea generation. Here are some recent updates:
💡 Claude: AI chatbot now available in New Zealand
Another AI chatbot is in town - Anthropic's Claude. (We’ve been secretly using it for the last couple of months through a VPN and are currently preferring it to ChatGPT). Why?
A 'safer' alternative to ChatGPT
Anthropic takes a research-first approach, openly publishing papers on techniques for AI safety and alignment. They aim to set a new standard for transparency in the AI industry.
Claude was trained on a 'filtered' dataset curated by Anthropic to avoid ingesting unsafe content. ChatGPT was trained on a much broader dataset scraped from the internet. They've got great research on this. If you're interested I can send across some journals on what they deem as 'safe' or 'filtered'.
You can upload multiple PDFs and documents into one chat.
Play around with 100,000 tokens in one chat (that's 75,000 words).
Cons:
Depending on how many tokens you're using, your chats can be limited to 3-5 chats every 6 hours.
🖼️ ChatGPT: Dall-E integration
You can now use Dall-E (image creator similar to Midjourney) within ChatGPT. We find Dall-E excels with the following:
Text within an image. Midjourney really struggles with this. You can add quite a few words within a Dall-E prompt. You can see these examples below of a Contented calculator and some designs for the Eating Disorder app Love your Kite. We find it a lot easier using Dall-E in a chat function with the phone app (you need the premium version and have to click the Dall-E setting.
Illustrations- especially fine and simple styles
You can keep refining images and request changes. This is still hard to do with Midjourney.
🗣️ ChatGPT talks back
Up until now the voice function has been one way. Now you can opt to have ChatGPT respond in any one of the 5 voices in the system. This is a great option for kids who cant read (Hannah’s 6 year old son Henry had a voice chat about the All Blacks and how they might be training and preparing for the World Cup Final!).
1 quote, 1 question, 1 bit of advice
“The future does not belong to AI, but nor does it belong to humans alone. As has been the case since the stone age, we will co-evolve with our technology – just faster.” Jamie Metzl, Author of Hacking Darwin (and World AI Summit presenter)
How do you feel about having a virtual assistant compared to tools that create outputs? Do the human like qualities of an Assistant seem appealing?
Map out your roles and your business as if you were writing a “day in the life of”. Once you have got it down to those small bite sized pieces its a lot easier to start working out the human aspects and the AI ready tasks.
We are AI Optimists. Yes there are always negative outcomes with any technology or societal advancement. The key is unlocking the positives for you and your business.
